Hard cheeses
Simply irresistable!

Although wine and cheese have been enjoyed together for centuries, finding a perfect combination of wine and cheese can be a challenge. However, if correctly chosen, the wine can enhance the flavour of the cheese, without overpowering it. Below are a few tips to finding the perfect bottle.

Try to match the "terroir"

Grapes coming from a specific soil acquire a taste that is determined by the climate and humidity of the area. This flavour quality can be reflected in the milk from cows grazing in the same region. For example, why not try our Cœur de Lion Le Camembert with a Chardonnay from Normandy.

Dare the contrast

Sometimes there is no better way to bring out a taste, than to pair it with a contrasting taste. For example, a sharp Blue cheese may be enjoyed with a soft sweet wine, which will complement it, while slightly rounding off the flavour.

Be adventurous

Although cheese and wine is the classic combination, you may be surprised to know that other beverages can make a nice change as well. Why not try beer, Champagne, Cognac or even vodka! For example, our Cœur de Lion Le Brie goes deliciously well with a glass of Champagne!

Pair by type

For a fast and simple way to establish a good pairing, you can choose a wine according to the type of cheese. Here are some examples of good combinations:
